We have all heard this saying mainly because historically the quest for beauty has sometimes led to pain and sometimes even death. People have often gone to extremes to achieve beauty. Below, I list some of the weirdest and most lethal fashion trends that ultimately led to the death of many.

I still feel guilty about being the only one in my family who managed to escape

I carry a lot of shame around with me. Not because I have done something shameful but rather because my life story is seemingly tainted by my somewhat tragic life experiences. I am currently on a journey to redefine myself outside the harrowing abuse I experienced as a child.

Growing up, my dad was perfect. And, no that is not an overstatement. As a little girl, my dad was my hero, the love of my life, and the man that could do no wrong. He woke up extra early to make my sister and me gourmet sandwiches for school, Saturdays…

This is why I was rejected

On the 16th of July, I received an email invite to apply to Medium’s new Creator Fellowship. I was ecstatic because according to Medium the Creator Fellowship offers creators a monthly minimum guarantee of earnings through the Partner Program from August through October. The minimum guarantee payment would start at US$200 but could be much higher as Medium would determine the minimum guarantee for each writer based on past performance on the platform.

Although Medium did mention that there were limited spots for the Creator Fellowship I was convinced I stood a good chance of being accepted. I was even…

It’s not just about the money

A whopping 78% of people still believe that men should pay on the first date. For some, this may come as a shock because nowadays society is seemingly always advocating for equality between the sexes. So why is it that the same energy isn’t maintained when it comes to picking up the bill on the first date?

First dates can reveal a lot about someone’s character

First dates reveal a lot about a person and usually determine whether a person would like to continue seeing the other person. The date is a great opportunity to learn more about a person and what type of lover they will be. This…

Hi there,

Sometimes I write about love and relationships, from coping with a talking stage break-up to dissecting racial nuances in the dating scene, I enjoy sharing my perspective on love, dating and relationships. We've all experienced it and we all understand the raw emotions associated with love. I’ve written a few articles about relationships and love and decided to put all of them in an easy to navigate Medium list.

So if you feel like going on a little reading rabbit hole, I’ve made it easier for you to find all the stories in the list below. Some stories like The Dark side of being an Independent Woman (included in the list) are divisive so feel free to add your comment and add to the conversation. The Kentler experiment: history’s most diabolical sexual experiment to date

Image of Helmut Kentler (Source:Wikipedia)

Helmut Kentler was a renowned German psychologist, sexologist, and academic. He advocated strongly for the decriminalization of sexual intercourse between adults and children, arguing that sex between adults and children could be beneficial for children. He also argued that incarcerating pedophiles did more harm than good for the children that had been violated by the pedophiles. Even more shocking is the fact that Kentler was able to convince the authorities in West Berlin Thank you so much for flagging my error Patricia :to allow him to conduct an experiment that was aimed at proving his sick assertions.

Is it worth your time?

Hello everyone,

This is my first short-form post (well, almost short-form). I hope to use this feature as a way of engaging with fellow writers and learning more about their writing journeys. Today’s post briefly discusses Vocal. Have you written on the platform and if so what has been your experience? If you haven’t written anything on the platform I am curious to know why too.

I recently started writing on vocal (well, I use that term loosely as I have just posted some of my old Medium stories on the platform) to test it out. This is after reading…

A look into the prevalence of racial discrimination in the quest for love in the United Kingdom

Love Island contestants 2021 (Source: ITV)

If like me you’re a reality television junkie then you’ve probably heard of the show, Love Island. The reality television show is filmed in a villa on an exotic island and documents a group of men and women participating in a series of tasks with a partner that they keep swapping until they meet the love of their life.

Love island is a fan favorite amongst the Brits and since moving to the United Kingdom, I too have become hooked on the show. The messy drama is honestly to die for.

Over the years, Love island has faced a lot…

Spoiler alert: they are just not that into you.

An article I wrote a while ago titled, The Dark Side of Being an Independent woman has undoubtedly created a lot of discourse. From that article, I have been able to learn more about what men think about strong, independent women.

I wish I could write about how men adored success, strength and independence in a woman. Unfortunately, reality paints a completely different picture. This article unpacks the realities of being a strong, independent woman from the male perspective.

Grab your wine ladies, this is going to be juicy!

Strong, independent women are problematic

According to some men, strong, independent women are problematic. Some even…
